Beautiful Ovation Applause Elite Acoustic Electric Guitar. Black with multi-hole epaulets. Medium depth round back design. Lyrachord body with Solid Spruce Top. Elite line multiple sound holes, lyrachord back, X bracing and spruce top add up to the signature Ovation Sound. Guitar tunes and plays beautifully. THERE IS A CRACK IN THE NECK BY THE NUT. PLEASE SEE PHOTOS. Ok, I wanted to make that very clear. I bought this guitar with the crack after doing extensive research on repair. I visited several luthier sites and determined 3 things:

1) This particular crack is ideal for repair as it is with the grain and string tension pulls the crack tightly closed.

2) With proper technique the crack would actually be stronger than the wood.

3) On several videos and photos once glued and clamped the joint is barely visible.

I watched with great interest a video of a neck repair on a classic Taylor acoustic. Turned out great. Same type of crack. Heres the problem, you can watch every video on the internet about open heart surgery but that doesnt make one qualified to crack a chest. Once I got this beauty in my hands I couldnt bear to start messing with it. Especially since it plays so well. I had all the supplies, Clamps, glue, glue syringes. Needle tip for my compressor blower and couldnt justify making the incision. Theres someone out there who will do this right and take advantage of a great deal.
