Wampler Ego Compressor

The Ego Compressor is a solid effect that you can place before or after your drive/distortion units and get great results. Placing a compressor after your drives will usually result in clipping and produce a very brittle sound but the Ego can handle whatever you throw at it. This is a great feature when trying to tame the output level of your favorite distortion. With the Ego Compressor you can tighten up your tone without having to worry about keeping your favorite distortion at unity gain.

The Blend knob increases the depth of the compression on the Wampler Ego, turning it all the way down results in the unit acting much like a clean boost while turning it all the way up provides a full compression. The Ego Compressor’s Tone knob is very useful by boosting the highs and making your compressed tone cutting and present.
