This is a demo model Gretsch guitar that is currently on display in the world renowned Gretschworld showroom at Cream City Music. The guitar is in nearly mint condition but does show evidence of being carefully handled and played a few times in our showroom. Based on the original 1950s era student level acoustic archtop, the Gretsch G9555 New Yorker sports a classic look for the modern player. Its body features an arched solid spruce top and maple back and sides, a combination that produces a light, bright, yet punchy sound with charmingly woody overtones. A floating single-coil DeArmond pickup beautifully complements the body’s composition, adding a clean and genuine boost for players who choose to amplify via an acoustic amp for excellent transparency or a tube amp for a bit of sweet saturation. Complete with a comfortable “V” shaped mahogany neck, compensated rosewood bridge, and stylish antique semi-gloss sunburst finish, this blast from the past is perfect for everything from the living room to the ballroom.
